Wisconsin Women’s Wrestling Roundup: Ruckdashel and Gunderson pace Lakeland at Waldorf Open

Maddie Ruckdashel placed fourth and Katelynn Gunderson finished fifth at 123 pounds to lead the Lakeland women’s wrestling team at the Waldorf University Open in Forest City, Iowa Saturday.

Both athletes were 2-2 on the day.

Ruckdashel scored a win by technical fall in the quarterfinals, topping Jezebel Snyder (Augsburg University) 10-0.

In the semis, Ruckdashel was pinned by Gabby Skidmore (Augsburg University) in 3:00, relegating her to the consolation bracket.

There, Ruckdashel topped Alanah Vetterick (Midland University) by technical fall, 16-6, to punch her ticket to the third-place match where she was pinned by Ashley Whetzal (Lyon College) in 1:08

Gunderson began her day by pinning Vetterick in the quarterfinals in a time of 2:00.

In the semis, she fell to Vayle Baker (Augsburg University) by technical fall, 10-0.

Gunderson was pinned by Whetzal 37 seconds into their consolation semifinal match.

The fifth-place match saw Gunderson pin Vetterick for a second time, with this fall coming in 2:25.

Lakeland resumes action Wednesday when they head to Stevens Point for its first dual of the young season.
