Wisconsin Women’s Wrestling Roundup: UWSP goes 2-2 at Muskie Duals

The UW-Stevens Point women’s wrestling team posted a 2-2 record at the Muskie Duals hosted by Lakeland University Saturday in Plymouth.

Wisconsin Women’s Wrestling Roundup: Thurber leads UW-Stevens Point at Adrian College Open

Brooke Thurber put an exclamation point on the first-ever tournament for the UW-Stevens Point women’s wrestling team as she earned an individual title at 116 pounds.

Thurber topped teammate Abby Nelson by technical fall in the finals of the Adrian College Open Saturday in Adrian, Michigan.

It was a short day at the office for Thurber who spent just 4:54 on the mat over the course of her three matches. She cruised to a championship with a pair of technical falls and a pin.

Thurber and Nelson combined for 32 of the Pointers 34.5 team points.

UWSP finished sixth at the seven-team event.

Lakeland University finished seventh in the season-opening tournament. The Muskies were led by Madison Ruckdashel who placed third at 123 pounds.

After being pinned in the semifinals, Ruckdashel rallied for back-to-back wins to capture a spot on the podium.

She pinned Morgan Bethea of UW-Stevens Point 1:34 into their consolation semifinal match. Ruckdashel finished the day by pinning Heavynne Jerez (MacMurray College) in the third-place match in just 1:09.

Lakeland resumes action Nov. 2 at the MacMurray College Open.

UWSP is off until Nov. 13 when it hosts Lakeland in its first-ever dual.

 

 

First-Round Matchups | Wisconsin’s DII and DIII National Qualifiers

Both the NCAA Division II and III Wrestling Championships kick off Friday.

UW-La Crosse wins WIAC Tournament

Four individual champions lifted the UW-La Crosse wrestling team to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship Friday, February 9 in Whitewater.

Hayden Schlough (141 pounds), Mitchell Hertel (165), Sawyer Massie (174) and Konrad Ernst (285) each won their weight classes as the Eagles won the team race by 25 points. Continue reading “UW-La Crosse wins WIAC Tournament”
